Yep, guess who has ignored this lovely blog...me. So, without further ado (and to prove that I am alive and kicking) here is a blog update.
This past weekend Rach and I went to Dubai. My lovely 'little' sister just turned the big 1.8 a few weeks ago and I knew that we needed one last hurrah before she graduates from High School and I go back to Germany. I also needed to renew my Kuwait Visa; so I put together a wonderful little plan into place to serve a couple of purposes.
Insert Caption (Choice #2): "Beam me up Scotty"
Me trying to be artistic by taking a picture of the Burj Khalifa's reflection TURNED into me getting weird looks from a family that thought I was taking a picture of their family/kids...
Rachel and I get along fantastically. It is neat to watch her grow up (literally...she has got me beat in the height category). Anyways...we both like to travel, eat tasty random food dishes, and enjoy the adventures. Kuwait has the best winter weather...it is usually in the high 60s to low 70s....but Dubai was even warmer! We enjoy 80 degree weather and lots of sunshine. I am still super white...but my freckles have come out to say hello.
Isn't she gorgeous?...I like walking around with her. Other tourists from Asian countries are always gawking at her beauty...or her height...or her blonde hair. I think all 3 :)
The trip was great but way too short. We flew in on a Thursday morning and were back in Kuwait by Saturday at noon. I couldn't take too much time off from work so it was a nice little adventure.
3 Great Things About Dubai:
1) I don't stand out as badly as I do in Kuwait
2) Excellent shopping!!
3) Great food
Life is good!!
Yummy restaurant called "Ping Pong Dim Sum"
We thought their water bottle looked a little like Vodka...it was water - I promise :)
I'm counting down the days/weeks until I am back home in Germany. I can't believe that my year in the Desert is almost over....it is a good thing though...it means I'll be seeing Jon soon :)
